Ocean Grove House
On difficult site that had falls in one direction and potential views in the other, a carpenter wanted to build a low cost house on their block at Ocean Grove.
A schematic design was prepared that kept the building as a simple rectangular 2 storey box and at a scale that allowed for low cost timber construction.
The living was put on the upper level so that the views over the valley could be captured and a bridge allowed for acess directly to this level. The lower level bedrooms spill out to the yard area.
The proposal worked. The carpenter built the house within his budget and he has provided a lovely house for his family.
